Islam in North Korea History

Islam in Korea - On Eid Al-Adha's annual celebration in Korea celebrating a holiday with 150000 Muslims, 45,000 of them are native Koreans and 0.3 percent of Koreans describe themselves as Muslims. Adat in a country must be different, and diversity must remain firm.

Islamic society in Korea is facing a unique problem right now, including religious requirements that are not understood by non-Muslims, diet restrictions known as halal, as well as restrictions on drinking alcohol sometimes make socializing with peers difficult, according to young Muslims in Korea. Plus an anarchist case made in the form of the September 11 attacks on America so that Islam is both labeled a terrorist.

When wearing headscarves in public, photographed by strangers because of the fear of anarchist events, however, this incident has declined over time, and more and more Koreans are becoming familiar with Islam, and its history is unique in the region.

History Islam in Korea

The history of the entry of Islam in Korea dates back to Arab trade with Korea in 1024, when Arab traders began a large hundred-person trade mission to the Goryeo kingdom during the reign of King Hyeonjong. This opened the door for Central Asian traders and migrants to settle in Korea, then the Mongols established control in 1259. After the rule of the yuan dynasty, many permanent Muslim populations began to stand up with the creation of mosques called Ye-kung or ceremonial halls.

However, the emergence of the new Joseon dynasty, the Muslim population began to weaken because the government limited Muslims to practicing Islam. In 1427, King Sejong established a policy that ordered Muslim residents to remove their ceremonial headgear, close mosques and obey Confucian norms. And after this legalization, Korean Muslims disappeared from historical records for several centuries.

But before they disappeared from Islamic history, the Korean Muslim population created scientific works and Muslim culture. The first Korean world map, Kangnido is described by information obtained by Muslim traders. Huihui Lifa is an astronomical table, love originating from Arabic text is called zij Muslim. With this scientific work, Muslims are increasingly recognized in Korea.
